Battle of the Books

Welcome to The Battle of the Books! This event has grown into one of our most popular events, especially since last year’s battling with our friends at Jane Ryan School.

For those who might not know about this epic battle, here’s how it works. We have chosen six titles for our reading warriors to enjoy between now and the actual battle in May. The titles cover a range of themes and reading levels, and are perfect for our students in grades 3-5. Mr. Kunschaft and Mr. Horan (principal at Jane Ryan) place students on a three-person balanced team for the year-end competition, with the winners take home the spoils!

We were so fortunate to have a team of DFS parents who tackled the task of becoming audio book readers so that all students at DFS have this format as an option for one of the six battle books. THANK YOU to the following volunteers: Beth Weiner, Jennifer Claydon, Amy Rawden-Cuci, Kristin Zazula, Megan Cavazzini, Kimberly Petrafesa, Cynthia Bradford, Erica Siegel, Kathy Babin, Kristin Reilly, Amanda Regan, Jennifer Voccola, Ashley Stephens, Candice Forman, Jasellynne Morrow, and Sue Guglielmo and Libby Gustafson. It truly takes a village!
